How Do I Know If a Module Can Be Repaired?

In almost every case there is some sort of hint to the cause which can help with knowing if your airbag module can be repaired
The most obvious is the car has been is a collision- the airbags and belts have been deployed, this is pretty much the most straight forward job we see in terms of knowing the modules status… it will have crash event stored.

Internal Errors- these will simply display as a airbag light or message on your display,,, if you haven’t carried out any diagnostics checks there wont really be any giveaways unless you have possibly induced the issue from a flat battery . contact us and we can go though some information with you.

No communication- similar to Internal error this is hardware based issue, there are common part numbers that suffer these issues and we see daily, symptoms would be other modules in the car logging loss of comms to the SRS/ RCM / ORC/ SDM when scanned with diagnostics, other symptoms can be the fuse for the power circuits blowing when replaced.

Can I Not just Put Another Module In?

The answer you want to hear is yes if you clicked … but
It is not the honest answer as many factors prevent the use of a used / donor part being fitted. First you have coding issues, VIN lock, Component protection security to name a few. If you have Online dealer diagnostics you can get around some of the time the component protection and then code the second hand module to the vehicle… but that’s not an option for 99.9% of people. So repairing with Crash Data the original is the first choice when it comes to the point of replace or repair not only from a cost point of view but also a time point as lead times on parts can run in to the months !!!
